An article at The Conversation highlights a Hungarian movie called Sing where a young girl in the school choir is told not to sing by her teacher because she can’t sing that well. Turns out, several children were told to mouth the words so their voices wouldn’t cause the choir to lose a singing competition.
Unfortunately, many children that are told they don’t have musical talent choose not to participate in music. Yet studies show that every child has musical ability that can be developed into a satisfying and lifelong relationship with music, as long as they receive encouragement from others.
