Islands is a new social app that’s being rolled out on college campuses in the southern United States. The founder of the new app is hoping it will succeed and not get shut down like Yik Yak, a popular social app that was shut down due to bullying and threats posted by anonymous users. While Islands has an anonymous feature, users are encouraged to tie their accounts to their other social accounts so others can find them. Since the community will be moderated for hateful messages, campuses are hoping this app will succeed where others have failed. Read more about it Inside Higher Ed.
